Using rappture

Introduction

Rappture is an interface used to set simulation parameters, start the simulation, track simulation progress, and download results. Many of the simulations on iADD use rappture as a front-end for running the simulation. Some simulations may have their own interface that is launched by rappture.

Setting simulation parameters

The rappture interface starts with a list of simulation parameters that can be seen in the image below. Hovering over an input parameter will bring up a pop-up box describing what the parameter changes and what the numerical limits are. The simulation can be started by pressing the "simulate" button.

1. Set parameters by changing the values in the boxes.
2. Hovering over a parameter will show its description.
3. Click "simulate" to start the simulation.

Running the simulation

For some simulations, a progress bar will appear towards the bottom of the interface. The simulation can be aborted at any time by pressing the "abort" button; nothing will be saved from the aborted simulation.

Viewing simulations results

At the end of every simulation, you will be brought back to a screen similar to the one seen below. The results from the simulation can be downloaded by pressing the icon with the small green arrow pointing down. Simulation results may be videos, images, or text files containing simulation data. After the simulation is complete, a new simulation can be started by setting new simulation parameters. You can run multiple simulations and still access the results from older runs from the same session.

1. The simulation output can be downloaded by pressing the button with the green arrow.
2. A new simulation can be started by changing the input parameters and clicking "simulate."
